Based on the 1987 novel by Fannie Flagg, Fried Green Tomatoes follows a Southern middle-aged housewife, Evelyn, as she engages in a blossoming friendship with Ninny, an elderly woman living in a nursing home. Sharing stories of friendship, tragedy, and joy from her youth, Ninny inspires Evelyn to embrace new beginnings in her own life. The novel and film explore the female perspective on aging, family, companionship, and the dehumanizing effects of domestic abuse and racism.
