“Civics and Cinema,” a new program devoted to sharing classic movies, bringing the community together, and fostering civic conversations. Join us for a special presentation of The Devil and Daniel Webster, also known as "All That Money Can Buy" | Farmer Jabez Stone, about to lose his land, agrees to sell his soul to the devil, known as Mr. Scratch, who gives Jabez seven years to enjoy the fruits of his sale before he collects. Over that time, Jabez pays off his debts and helps many neighboring farmers, then becomes an advocate for the upstanding Sen. Daniel Webster. When Jabez's contract with Mr. Scratch concludes, he desperately turns to Webster to represent him in a trial for his soul. | The screening will be followed by a discussion led by the filmmakers as well as Sam Scinta and Rick Kyte from Viterbo.

Chicago VHS all-stars, Joe Pickett (Found Footage Fest) and Scott Miller (Strange Tapes Zine) have a combined VHS collection of 15,000 tapes and will be celebrating their first year of touring their collection by showing their favorite finds from 2025 (all hand-picked VHS, nothing from the internet!). Expect workplace safety videos, poorly produced instructional tapes and some wonderfully homemade movies.

Before this screening there will be special pre-show content giving context to the film, and after the screening guests will be invited to stick around for a post-film happy hour discussion where we encourage you to connect with your community of fellow movie lovers!
