Habitat for Humanity presents: PUSH
This screening is part of La Crosse Housing Week. Explore the full event line-up: lacrossehousingweek.org | Housing prices are skyrocketing in cities around the world. Incomes are not. PUSH sheds light on a new kind of faceless landlord, our increasingly unlivable cities and an escalating crisis that has an effect on us all. This is not gentrification, it’s a different kind of monster. The film follows Leilani Farha, the UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, as she’s travelling the globe, trying to understand who’s being pushed out of the city and why. “I believe there’s a huge difference between housing as a commodity and gold as a commodity. Gold is not a human right, housing is,” says Leilani.

Kings of Kubb
A new feature documentary from filmmakers B.J. Hollars and Steve Dayton, whose previous film, WHEN RUBBER HIT THE ROAD, earned an Upper Midwest Emmy Award. Following the film there will be a brief Q and A with the filmmakers. What is Kubb? Only the greatest game you’ve maybe never heard of… It’s not quite bowling. It’s not quite bags. And it’s far more than “throwing sticks at blocks.” When the Nordic lawn game arrived in the United States, American players quickly discovered that—even with skill, strategy, and mental toughness—kubb can break your heart… or heal it. KINGS OF KUBB follows four elite competitors, each willing to risk everything for a shot at the U.S. National Kubb Championship, held in the Kubb Capital of North America (Eau Claire, WI).
